About this deal

The author did a splendid job with her, and I will be happy to read another book with her as the main character, as long as the long inner monologues are toned down a bit. It’s definitely something special when you find these books especially in your non-native languages. He admits that the Rot spread slowly at first but then all of a sudden, things started dying, and when Sera asks how long ago it started, Nyktos said that it would be 21 years in five months when the Rot started to creep up and around Iliseeum. She claims that he’s the one that’s committing misdeeds, and Nyktos tells her he’s curious how she’s going to rationalize this.

As their time to find a way to remove the embers and save Sera is counted, they also need to navigate the politics of gods and primals, hide Sera’s ability from everyone, especially Kolis, and try to clear all the miscommunication between them too while they’re at it. She realizes that he values the embers, not her, and before Nyktos can figure out why she is recoiling, they get interrupted by Rhahar, who tells Nyktos that there is a problem at the Pillars of Asphodel, where souls faced judgment. Sera and Nyktos's arcs were balanced even though there was more focus on Sera's but that makes sense for the plot.

It started so well with action, angsty moments, and intense conversations, and it ended with a bang and a cliffhanger, but in between, it was mostly Sera and Nyktos beating around the bush. As they leave, Sera comes face to face with her mother and Nyktos tells her that she should be thanking Sera for still being alive, because she doesn’t deserve it at all, according to him as she must’ve known what her stepson was capable of. I’ve been a fan of the Blood and Ash series since the beginning and absolutely loved A Shadow in the Ember and all the story we’re getting in the Flesh and Fire series.

I mean, considering that the other series talks about Seraphena, I suspect something will happen, but boy is there a lot of anticipation of the how. Once everyone is calmed down, they continue to talk by Nektas’ wing, and Sera tells Nyktos what she did to the Shade, which surprises both of the men, and causes Nektas to turn into his human form. Nektas determines that it’s time for a nap, and they leave, but on the way out they go past Nyktos’ office, and Jadis wants to go to him, which they end up doing.Ash doesn’t like this, even though Delfai tells him that there are no other options but three that he lists, Ash starts strangling him, but Seraphena intervenes, and when Ash lets go of Delfai, he believes that there’s hope as he had seen his own death at the hands of Ash. I think JLA conjured an intriguing fantastical world and that was one of my favorite elements about this series, but there are limits to how much world-building the series would continue to need. Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. Tbh this is very close to how Cas was used during his imprisonment and if anyone sees this as cheating or Ash betraying Sera needs to get their head checked.

Their romance also has this doomed and tragic quality to it that makes it more gripping and intense, and I have to say that while I love Cas, I feel that Nyktos has more personality and individuality. He gives her a history lesson on Primals and what it meant for the Primals when they started to feel emotions. Both of them hope that the Chosen haven been turned into Craven, and realize that Revenants are different than Craven.Between the two of them they are able to hold off Veses but barely, and Sera brings Reaver back to life–he was hurt terribly by Veses, to the point of death. Nektas eventually leaves, and Sera questions Nyktos about his night, though he gives nothing away about what happened in her chamber. Kolis is aware that he had taken a Consort, and has decided to deny Nyktos’ right to a coronation all because there hasn’t been a coronation in years, and he wants it to be more traditional, which means that Nyktos must gain Kolis’ permission to crown a Consort. Then she asks to see Delfai, the God of Divination, and it shows her where he is–Irelone, with Kayleigh, the girl that was set to marry Tavius.I’ve read a lot of negative reviews to A War Of Two Queens and it took me awhile to get through it myself, but it’s so worth it!
