About this deal

AdBlue is not a hazardous substance and has no known effects or critical hazards. Urea is a raw material that also occurs naturally in our digestive system. However, we strongly advise that you never inhale or ingest AdBlue due to the risk of a reaction. There are two ways of achieving this reduction: through a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system and through exhaust gas recirculation. If your vehicle uses the SCR system, then you’ll need AdBlue. Thankfully, topping up the AdBlue reservoir is easy and cheap. Our Halfords AdBlue 10l includes all the fluid you need and comes with a handy pouring spout to make refilling a doddle. This releases ammonia which is a catalyst to a chemical reaction and converts dangerous chemicals into nitrogen, water vapour and CO 2 – all which are unharmful to our lungs and the atmosphere.

AdBlue® is generally considered to reduce NOx emissions by over 90%, making it a crucial tool for improving air quality and combatting environmental issues. It’s for these reasons that governments set limits on vehicular NOx emissions and promote the use of AdBlue®. This improves air quality and reduces the danger of diesel pollution-related illness and death. If you suspect AdBlue contamination, you must not use the solution and dispose of safely as it can damage your engines AdBlue has become key in helping reduce NOx output from engines as standards have sharpened for transportation vehicles, as well as off-road vehicles and passenger engines.

Since 2006 the 4 th edition (Euro 4) of the EU law regarding diesel emissions came into effect. The laws become stricter with every update and the 4 th edition made it compulsory for all new lorries to have SCR fitted on them. AdBlue is a highly purified diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) with the official name AUS32 which stands for Aqueous Urea Solution 32.5%. It is, in fact, a legal requirement to use AdBlue in a Heavy Goods Vehicle above 7.5 tonnes or a diesel engine car that’s fitted with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). What is AdBlue fluid made of?It’s impossible to drive without AdBlue® – your engine will not start, and you’ll see a notification noting ‘AdBlue® is empty’. A notification will also appear when your AdBlue® tank is running low.
