About this deal

Alan Grant, has his red scarf, tan hat, and very wet clothes, which are slightly dishevelled which is a really nice touch by the graphic designer Casper Glahder. They both carry flares to distract the T.Rex.

T76956 T. Rex Breakout is hands down, one of the most satisfying, and I think memorable sets of 2022. LEGO Jurassic Park fans are in for an absolute treat in 2022 – Target.com has revealed an upcoming Jurassic Park LEGO set – 76956 T. Rex Breakout – a small diorama and playset based on one of the most iconic scenes from the first Jurassic Park. There’s no pricing or release date yet, but going by the 2 newly revealed LEGO Jurassic World Dominion sets, you should expect this on 17 April 2022. A detail that is really only clearly visible at this stage are the T Rex’s rain filled footprints. The new 1×1 quarter circle tile in transparent light blue really work well here.

The T. rex doesn’t completely shatter the illusion either, and from certain points of view can work with the rest of the elements of the model to make 76956 T. rex Breakout a success –particularly at this relatively low price. The T. rex’s shortcomings aren’t enough to put anyone off buying this set and they won’t be enough to detract from what is a fun and exciting LEGO set to put together and one that feels like it has been a long time coming. This collectible model makes a super treat for yourself or a gift for other adult Jurassic Park fans and experienced dinosaur-loving LEGO builders. It comes with step-by-step instructions, so you can relax and enjoy your nostalgic creative journey. The sheer variety of building experiences makes this a perfect introduction for those new to LEGO, and yet is fun enough for veteran LEGO fans to enjoy.

Here’s a look at the top, with the transparent sunroof, and the bonnet, which has more of the dark red stripes, and the Jurassic Park logo. It has right details, such as the number 4 on it, and with the right spare parts, you should be able to turn this into a proper Ford Explorer if you’d like. Basing 76956 T. rex Breakout on one of the most iconic moments of not only the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World franchise but also of modern cinema is a daunting challenge for the LEGO Group to take on. That the crushed one sits nicely at a slight angle and comes with one tyre missing (after the T. rex bit into it and burst it) just highlights the extra attention to detail that has gone into the set’s design, as do other builds like the flashlight, cups of water and night vision goggles. It is the inclusion of many aspects like these that elevate any LEGO set, but particularly those that encourage you to look first, touch second. Alan, meanwhile, strikes a pose with his signal flare in front of Explorer 5. Ian can be seen looking on in a pretty good rendition of abject terror.

The T. rex looks weird and there’s no getting away from that, and it is due to a design that is just crying out for a higher piece count to add in some bulk, some shaping and a lot more detail. As it stands (one leg on the crushed Explorer), it doesn’t quite belong in 76956 T. rex Breakout –it isn’t an entire disaster and from certain angles can be accepted by kinder eyes, but if you focus too much on it, it just zaps credibility from the entire set. Ian Malcolm is a fan favourite, and is attired in his signature leather blazer, and also exposing parts of his chest. The printing colour is a little off, and doesn’t quite match the colour of his head, unfortunately, but other than that small flaw, it’s a great depiction of Ian Malcolm. Despite being a display model, it’s really quite playable, and because the diorama is so large, you’re encouraged to set the scene up as you like, and there are tons of fantastic angles that you can appreciate. There are 4 minifigures included in the set – Ian Malcolm, Alan Grant, and the kids, Lex and Tim Murphy. The minifigures are highly detailed, and reflect their surroundings as they’re all either drenched by the rain, or covered in mud, which makes these standout from their previous variants.

The warning and hazard signs – love that they use a minifigure hand for the 10,000 volts high voltage sign. So, for the shortcomings of the T. rex, it is unusual to write that we’d have preferred to pay a higher price for some aesthetic improvements to the dinosaur, to turn what is a really good LEGO Jurassic Park set into a perfect one. — Pictures — In addition to consultations with the consultee listed, we will publicise the application in accordance with national requirements and our local policy. The LEGO designers have gone above and beyond on so many levels, such as finally giving us minifigure-scale Ford Explorers, amazingly detailed minifigure versions of Ian Malcolm, Alan Grant, and the kids which fit into the context of the scene, and thrown in so many accurate references to the movies. There is authenticity and charm in the design of each of these minifigures, and they work both for younger fans wanting to play out the scene and for older fans wanting to give their display a real added sense of story and character. And yes, there are studs on the Ford Explorer, so that the T.Rex can affix itself neatly as its stomping it. Although some aspects are apparently only coincidentally so, this does mirror the LEGO Star Wars Diorama Collection for such presentation and, as was the case with that trio of sets, it’s a simply-realised and smartly-presented concept that cleverly puts a different slant on the scene that you build out of LEGO –there’s something ever so slightly more artistic to presenting LEGO like this. Are we being too harsh in criticising the design of the T. rex in 76956 T. rex Breakout? Overall, this is still a great LEGO set, capturing so much of the most famous moment from Jurassic Park –the set-up of the scene, the two Ford Explorers, the rain-soaked, terrified minifigures and all the little details in-between all give life and authenticity to the LEGO set and the moment from the film it is based on.
