Lacey, Josh (15 October 2011). "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again by Frank Cottrell Boyce – review". The Guardian. London. Liam is a funny, engaging narrator, a mix of precocious child and wise adult who is obsessed with the Waterloos of the world and a role-playing computer game called World of Warcraft (which comes in very handy for navigating his way through encounters with grumpy adults). He carries the novel easily. When you remember how much practice Liam has at pretending to be an adult, and of having adults who know he's a kid always expecting him to behave better, "big lad like you", it's not all that surprising. Sure, sometimes his voice was a little too mature, but it also has that naïve youthfulness that you leave behind before you hit 20. Usually. Cottrell-Boyce is an advocate for reading aloud and patron of The Reader Organisation. a charity that works through volunteers to bring literature to everyone, through reading aloud in prisons, care homes and other community spaces. [30] Novels [ edit ] He has also created a fantastic trilogy, writtenwith his trademark wit, warmth and sense of story, based upon Ian Fleming's novel, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, comprising Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Race Against Time and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Over the Moon.I read this with my 10 year old son for his book club run through a local independent book store, and we really enjoyed it! Dawtrey, Adam. "Phantom scribe gets BIFA nom". Variety. Archived from the original on 28 June 2006 . Retrieved 29 July 2012. This book took a pretty out-there premise and just had so much fun with it. Our narrator/protagonist, Liam, is delightful. It was super sweet to watch him gain an appreciation for and emulate his own father's "dadliness."

Book Review: Cosmic by Frank Cottrell Boyce - The Book Smugglers Book Review: Cosmic by Frank Cottrell Boyce - The Book Smugglers

There are a number of elements that Frank Cottrell Boyce deftly combines to make COSMIC one of the funniest books I've read this year: Jennifer – YES, it is out in the UK in fact it came out here first and Mr Boyce is a British writer 😀Having said that and putting the game aside I thought this was a very cute story and that Liam is a likable character. It was sweet and tame enough for middle graders but enough adventure to keep kids a bit older engaged.
